I will now analyse the website, album artwork and fashion of the hip/hop artist 'Tinie Tempah.' The reason for doing this, is to gain some knowledge on the codes and conventions that associate each artist with the hip/hop genre and helps the audience to be associate them. When I create my magazine, this analysis will be very useful, as I will be able to revert back and use the components that I highlighted, in order to improve my work and make it stronger. I have commented and highlighted other components that improve the website, album artwork and fashion, other than the codes and conventions, so that I can improve my work further. Now these evaluations have been completed, I feel that I have a much better understanding of the codes and conventions that are used to create an affective hip/hop related product, I will use these factors in my own magazine, to make it look stronger, more professional and be associated with the hip/hop genre to the best of my ability.

From the research I have completed on Tinie Tempah, I have gained the information that I will use to create my draft for the magazine. I will take the aspect, components and knowledge of the codes and conventions of the hip/hop genre and apply them to my magazine. During my photography stage, I will keep what associated the aspects with the genre in mind. This includes having the model staring at the audience with a stern look on their face. It also includes having the models in black and white, so that I am following the convention of the hip/hop genre. Jewellery is needed, in order to follow the codes and convention of hip/hop fashion. I can also include shades, if it will improve the shot, in some cases the shades follow the conventions of the genre and are iconic to an artist.

I am now going to research artists associated with my chosen genre, by doing this, I am going to gain an understanding of what aspects I will need to include in my magazine. The way in which I will be gathering this information, is through investigating three different artists. The three artists that I will be investigating are ‘Eminem’, ‘Lil Wayne’ and ‘Tinie Tempah’. Through studying these three artists, I will be gathering information, such as the type of clothing that is associated with the genre hip/hop, based on what the artist wears.  What font styles and colours are associated with the artist and so associated with the genre, hip/hop. Finally, I will be looking at the websites for each of the artists and observe what aspects that have been included in them.

Research on Genre - Music Magazine - Double Page Spread

I am going to analyse three double page spreads associated with the hip-hop genre. The reason for doing so, is to gain some understanding and knowledge on the codes and conventions and the furniture that makes a double page spread into a hip/hop genre related magazine. When I create my double page spread, this analysis will be very useful, as I will be able to revert back and use the components that I highlighted, in order to improve my work and make it stronger. From the research I have completed on the codes and conventions of a hip/hop double page spread, there are some key factors that must be incorporated, in order to create a professional, easy to read, effective double page spread that resembles the hip/hop genre. Some of these key components include having a key image of the model from the cover page taking up the majority of a page. Once again, the key image follows the convention of portraying intimidation. The masthead follows the convention of the hip/hop genre, by using a big font, a bold font style and a bold colour, this is used to attract the audience. The copy is informal, so that the target audience can relate to the article and the artist. When creating my double page spread, these are the codes and conventions that I will apply, in order to create an effective, professional and attractive product that reflects the hip/hop genre.
