In order to understand the common codes and conventions of a magazine I have analysed three different magazine covers. I have conducted this analysis so that I can apply what I learn to my music magazine. I have already completed research on the codes and conventions of a cover page on the previous task. I am however going to evaluate them again and try to improve them, which would widen my knowledge of codes and conventions. With the previous prelim task's analysis and the improved ones, I feel I will be able to use this new knowledge and apply them correctly and affectively to my music magazine cover. I have also analsised other aspects that improve the cover page to make it more attractive to the audience.
Below are the improved analysed covers:
After conducting the analysis, I have noticed that some of the key aspects that make up the codes and conventions of a magazine. These key features include using key images as the focal point for the audience and then use this to put the cover lines and the lures around. The model that I am using, must be looking towards the audience, which I think makes the audience more inclined to buy the magazine. I must use a variety of colours and fonts in order to attract the audience; I must also avoid leaving dead space which makes pages look unattractive. I must also stick to the margin lines that I create; this will make the magazine look neat and professional. When creating my magazine, I am going to try and use all of these codes and conventions, which means that my magazine should look neat and professional.
